By Utilizing Proper Nourishment And Taking Prostate Vitamins You Can Assist Your Body In Preventing Cancer!

The prostate is a walnut shaped gland found in almost all male mammals. In human beings, it forms a very important part of the male reproductive system as it is primarily responsible for the production of semen. It is situated just below the bladder, surrounding the urethra in a circular fashion. The prostate gland requires the male hormone “testosterone” for proper functioning and regulation.

With advancing age, testosterone production tends to decrease gradually; leading to the various problems associated with the prostate gland. Moreover, the prostate gland can be adversely affected by various factors like obesity, improper diet and pollution etc. The common problems associated with the prostate gland are detailed below.

1. Benign prostatic hyperplasia: BPH normally affects men older than fifty. It involves enlargement of the prostate gland making urination difficult and painful. In severe cases urination stops completely.

2. Prostatitis: Inflation of the prostate gland is called prostatitis. It varies in severity; with the more severe cases being treated with antibiotics.

3. Prostate cancer: Prostate cancer is responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths annually. It is rarely diagnosed early as it is asymptomatic in the initial stages.

As the saying goes, preventing the above mentioned problems is much easier and safer then trying to cure them. According to experts, adequate intake of fluids, regular exercise and a wholesome vitamin rich diet are the sure-fire ways to maintain optimal prostate health.

Vitamins or vital amines are organic compounds which help the body in various ways, viz. convert food into energy, regulate the immune system, ensure bone strength etc. The specific prostate vitamins that help keep the prostate gland healthy are detailed below.

1. Vitamin E: Studies have shown that regular supplementation with vitamin E in its alpha tocopherol form, significantly reduces the risk of prostate cancer. It is a major anti-oxidant which delays cell death due to toxicity and oxidation. Vitamin E naturally occurs mainly in vegetable oils, leafy vegetables like spinach and dairy products.

2. Vitamin C: It protects the prostate gland from microbial infections. Regular consumption of foods containing vitamin C goes a long way in preserving overall prostate health. Since vitamin C has diuretic properties, it helps ease urination in BPH patients. It mainly occurs in citrus fruits, leafy vegetables, animal livers and dairy products.

3. Vitamin K2: A recent Japanese study has shown that daily supplementation with vitamin K2 (menaquinone) cuts the risk of prostate cancer by 35%. Vitamin K2 is found in most dairy and meat products.

In conclusion, eating a balanced and healthy diet containing all the above mentioned vitamins on a regular basis is the most logical and convenient way to keep the prostate healthy.

Boosting Health Care Efforts

Health care is not one-dimensional. There’s more to it than what takes place inside a hospital. Recognizing the need for a more holistic approach to health and well-being, community hospitals have come up with supplementary services for their patients, primarily in terms of education and training.

General Health Education

Taking care of yourself all boils down to knowing the basics of health. Every now and then, a person needs a refresher course on what needs to be done to keep the body in good shape. Community hospitals offer general health education classes, as well as lessons on alternative lifestyle methods that can boost one’s efforts to stay healthy.

First Aid Training

Knowing how to handle emergencies is a valuable skill, which is why community hospitals have first aid training sessions that their patrons can enroll in. Both children and adults can benefit from a few courses so they will know what to do when faced with a medical emergency.

Maternity and Neo-Natal Care Education

One of the most popular courses offered by community health care facilities like the San Joaquin hospital in Bakersfield, California is about mother and child care during pregnancy and after birth. The issues of maternity and neo-natal care are discussed in the hospitals’ regular sessions on the topics.

Disease Management

People who suffer from conditions such as diabetes can go about their routines normally as long as they manage their diseases well. To help them with this, San Joaquin hospital, CA and its counterpart facilities spread all over the country offer disease management courses. These courses cover diet requirements, lifestyle adjustments, therapies, and other related topics.

Getting access to these classes and trainings isn’t that difficult. Most of these sessions are offered for free, and participants only need to register for the programs. It is important to regularly check a community hospital’s schedule of events to know whether there are courses that one is interested in. In addition, a person can also request for a particular class that isn’t in the current list. Community health centers like San Joaquin hospital, CA are open to suggestions from their patients.

Obama Rebuilds Bush Administration Health Care Conscience Clause

In parts of the U.S., conscience clauses exist within medical care laws that permit medical care workers to decline performing procedures that violate their religious values. Experts are quick to point out that pursuing one’s conscience can very easily run afoul of the Hippocratic Oath to serve all patients in a fair manner. Based upon the Obama administration’s recent changes to the conscience terms, it appears that idea is shared. Obama’s changes to the conscience terms supersede provisions written in during the final days of the Pres. George W. Bush administration. People take out quick short term loans for health care, and do not expect their doctor’s religious beliefs to get in the way of their health care.
Started by George W. Bush was the conscience terms
During President Bush’s final days in office, a conscience clause was inserted into laws pertaining to health care workers. Concerns over providing emergency contraception, treating homosexual patients and prescribing birth control to single women were cited as reasons for the conscience terms by the Bush administration.
The rules are “unclear and potentially over-broad in scope.” This is what the Obama administration thinks of it all. The new exception in the conscience laws only states for conscience/religious grounds instead of all of the stated above. This will go into impact in 30 days. The process through which health care workers can file complaints was also retained.
The rules of federal funds dispersed
If organizations wouldn’t accommodate medical care workers that have religious and conscience problems with procedures, then the federal funds to state and local governments, hospitals, health plans and clinics would be cut off with the Bush regulation.
You will find clearer definitions of the conscience law with Obama though. Procedurally, matters of women’s health have received greater attention. Under the new rules, roadblocks to obtaining abortion, contraceptive and fertility treatments can be lessened substantially.
A statement by the United States Department of Health and Human Services speaks to the balance the Obama compromise has struck:
“The administration strongly supports provider conscience laws that protect and support the rights of health care providers, and also recognizes and supports the rights of patients. … The rule being issued today builds on these laws by providing a clear enforcement process.”

Over-The-Counter vs Prescription Prenatal Vitamins

If you are trying to conceive, then taking prenatal vitamins one of the best choices you could ever make. Prenatal vitamins provide all required the nutrients for a healthy pregnancy.

An array of prenatal vitamins can be found in todays market. Some of these can be bought easily over-the-counter, whilst others will need a prescription from your doctor. Are you still wondering whether to go with prenatal supplements despite the fact that over-the-counter vitamins seem more promising? Read further to understand the difference between over-the-counter and prescription prenatal vitamins.

The main difference between the two is the amount of folic acid included. Folic acid is an important ingredient in prescription prenatal vitamins, as it plays a vital role in building healthy blood cells. Common ingredients are calcium, folic acid and iron. The prescription prenatal vitamins mostly contain 1,000 mcg Folic Acid, whereas over-the-counter prenatal vitamins contain Folic acid anywhere from 400 mcg to 800 mcg.

An informal comparison made on over-the-counter prenatal vitamins and prescribed prenatal vitamins concluded that although over-the-counter vitamins are high in almost all micronutrient levels, they are lower in folic acid and iron. In this case alone, it can be proved that prescribed supplements are far better than over-the-counter vitamins. Apart from being rich in folic acid, prescription prenatal vitamins also contain stool softeners. The stool softeners help relieve constipation. The prescription based prenatal vitamins usually contain a higher dosage of iron to help prevent iron deficiency during pregnancy. In most cases, neural tube defect occurs in babies during the first few weeks of the pregnancy period. To provide a pregnant woman with sufficient amounts of folic acid is important, as it helps to prevent neural tube defects. A daily dosage of folic acid of about 0.6 mg with upper intake of about 1.0 mg a day during pregnancy is usually recommended.

Yet another reason why most pregnant women prefer purchasing prescribed prenatal supplements is the FDA approved seal. As FDA approves prescribed prenatal supplements, they are certain to meet their standards. It means your body is going to meet its vitamin needs perfectly for definite. However, it is not the same with over-the-counter prenatal vitamins. Thus, it is advisable to consult your doctor before taking any sort of vitamin supplements. Make sure you have purchased the right supplement to healthy and to benefit from taking prenatal supplements. Chances are that the quality of ingredients in some prenatal supplements are compromised, thus making them useless. So, choosing the prenatal supplements that have high quality ingredient is important. Choose from over-the-counter prenatal vitamins and prescribed prenatal vitamins carefully. If you are trying to get pregnant then, make sure you supply your body with an adequate amount of vitamins and nutrients to stay in good health.

Why Vegetarians Are Less Healthy

Roughly, about 6% of the world’s population is vegetarian, a trend that is growing. Yet study after study shows that vegetarians are less healthy than their non-vegetarians peers. Why is this so? Surely a diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables should make you healthier, not less healthy, so what’s going on?

In the light of extraordinary new research it is becoming apparent that most vegetarians are in fact less healthy than their non-vegetarian peers. By “peers” I mean people of a similar socio-economic and cultural background. Any valid comparison between vegetarians and non-vegetarians must compare apples with apples. For example, any study that compared an affluent health-conscious vegetarian from California with an impoverished meat eater from the slums of Calcutta is not likely to be meaningful.

Recent studies are clearly showing that compared to their non-vegetarians peers, vegetarians are more at risk of diseases such as infertility, cancer, heart disease, eating disorders, mental disease, and obesity.

Several studies have compared health-conscious vegetarians with health-conscious non-vegetarians from the same demographic (the same socio-economic, health-conscious cohort). In other words, scientists have compared vegetarians and non-vegetarians from similar backgrounds so as to validate the results and they have come up with some surprising conclusions.

For example, in a study of 76,000 people conducted over many years data from five studies were pooled into a very large collaborative analysis of mortality in vegetarians and non-vegetarians (Appleby PN, Key TJ, Thorogood M, Burr ML, Mann J. Mortality in British vegetarians. Public Health Nutr. 2002 Feb;5(1):29-36).

The Appleby Study compared vegetarians and non-vegetarians, adjusted for age, sex and smoking. The results for all-cause mortality showed no significant difference between vegetarians and their non-vegetarian peers. Many studies have shown that vegetarians live longer than the population at large, but the Appleby Study showed that this is not the case when you compare people within the same demographic. The study concluded that ‘Overall mortality was the same between vegetarians and non-vegetarians. But vegetarians had 2.2 times the death rate from mental and neurological diseases as non-vegetarians.’

Several studies have compared vegetarians and non-vegetarians within the same demographic and the research is clearly showing that vegetarians are at greater risk of heart disease, cancer, infertility and other diseases. As most studies have compared vegetarians with the population at large, this is not widely known; such studies provide a false picture because the population at large is not particularly health-conscious.

This begs the question: does this mean that eating animal products is good for health? The research on the whole says NO. So if vegetarians are less healthy than their non-vegetarian peers, what is the reason? Why is it that vegetarians are less healthy than their non-vegetarians peers in the same demographic? This is the vegetarian paradox.

Ginecomastia In Brazil – Hospitals Are No Longer Your Nightmares!

Ginecomastia surgery is also called Male Breast implant, which is carried out to regain the shape of male breast. Abnormally enlarged breasts are a physical disorder that can be found in some men. This is caused by the uncontrollable breast tissue growth but in most cases, such growths disappeared by age. If it’s not, you need to undergo a surgery to retain the shape.

Around 48,000 people visit Brazil for cosmetic surgery each year and at least 20% of them are men. Most of these men come to the country to perform ginecomastia or other weight reduction surgeries. Brazil is a hot destination for such surgery and is not only because of the lower cost but the country has several skilled surgeons who can perform these surgeries with exceptional results.

The friendly nature and climate of Brazil will relax you a lot. Moving from your hometown to a relatively unknown place is always a good idea to keep you away from work-related issues too. You no longer have to worry about your energy bills, phone bills or lawn because you are on a vacation. This relaxed mindset is essential to achieve optimum results from these.

The Procedures – The surgery is performed within one to three hours. However, the patient is recommended to bring garments for at least four weeks. The unique inspection of the operated portion is necessary so it is natural for doctors asking you to keep visiting for some time. In fact, you do not have to stay in the hospital because right after two days of surgery, you will be in good health and can visit places.

Benefits Of Choosing Brazil – In Brazil, the surgeries are performed at a nominal cost. Cosmetic surgeons in Brazil have several years of experience and have done several cosmetic surgeries too. This will produce optimum results on different patients. The infrastructure in hospitals is top-notch and you can find hospitals and physicians based on your specific requirements.

Ginecomastia surgery is of low risk and can produce very good results. It takes only one year for you to have the maximum results but you can resume normal life just waiting a couple of weeks after performing the surgery. If price was the factor that was setting you back, now it’s no longer a problem because you know where you have to go for getting it done at an affordable price.

I’ve noticed hundreds of cases of abnormal breast growth and some of those involved were not even aware of it. This is fairly common and nothing to worry about its medical standpoint- but excessive growth of breast tissue are accompanied by tenderness or pain. But if you will undergo ginecomastia surgery you will retain a desirable shape of your breasts.

How To Prevent Grey Hair And Vitamins For Grey Hair

Gray hair is a direct sign of aging and most older people would like to prevent this from happening. But like aging, graying hair is a natural, unstoppable process. Having gray hair is not so bad. You can still have healthy and beautiful hair despite the gray and one way of achieving that is by giving your gray hair vitamins.

How does hair become gray?

Each hair follicle contains pigment cells that produce the chemical called melanin that gives the hair its natural color. The hair’s light or dark color depends on the amount of melanin each hair contains. As we get older, the pigment cells in the hair follicles die gradually. Because of this, the production of melanin becomes weak, making its color to fade to silver, gray, or white.

Keeping gray hair away

Everyone’s hair will turn gray eventually, but there is nothing wrong with delaying the process. Hair vitamins for gray hair are now available commercially to stall the appearance of gray hair. For the hair to continue to produce melanin, it is helpful to give it a steady diet of Para-Aminobenzoic Acid (PABA). It is one of the many B-complex vitamins and is readily available both in capsule-form vitamin B-complex at your nearest drugstore. Pantothenic acid or Vitamin B-5 is another known vitamin for gray hair. It stimulates vitamin utilization and releases energy from food to for great hair and good skin. If partnered with folic acid, pantothenic acid helps restore the hair’s natural color so it fights premature gray hair.

Recently, researchers have come up with solutions to gray hair. According to cancer researchers, liposomes, substances that help deliver drugs into the body, can be utilized to deposit melanin inside the follicles. This means that if the hair naturally stops producing melanin, then melanin can be artificially deposited to the hair follicles. A leading cosmetics laboratory has also developed a precursor molecule for melanin called dihydroxyl-5.6-indole. This allows the natural process of hair pigmentation to take place naturally through a slow process of oxydization.

The Benefits Of Medical Alert Systems

Currently federal regulators are considering overhauling 911 emergency services to improve response times and efficiency. However, some individuals with elderly relatives that live alone have opted to take action on their own by purchasing a medical response system.

Medical attention within the first 90 minutes of a heart attack, stroke or a fall enhances the chances of recovery for the victim. With an average response time between 30 to 45 seconds, medical alert systems do their best to ensure emergency personnel arrive on the scene in speedy fashion.

Personal Emergency Response System (PERS): The Basics

Known as senior alarm systems among other names, PERS are devices allowing individuals to receive assistance in the event of an emergency. Medical alarm systems typically consist of two components:

Help Button: A wireless device that can be worn on the body as a pendant or wristband.

Communicator: The base unit of the system. This two-way device plugs into the user’s home telephone line.

In the event of an emergency, users can activate the system by pressing the button on their wireless device. An emergency dispatcher then responds to the call, directly speaking with the user via the two way speakerphone on the communicator. After determining the kind of help needed, the dispatcher has the option calling someone on the user’s emergency call list. This list typically includes up to three people who are available to assist the user if contacted by a dispatcher. In emergency situations or if verbal communications with the user cannot be established, the dispatcher will proceed to immediately contact paramedics.

A Sense of Security

Research shows medical alarm systems provide users and their families with a sense of security. But this sense is more than just a feeling, as one study found medical monitoring systems drastically reduced mortality rates and cut hospital use by nearly 60 percent.

Despite the benefits medical alarm systems provide to older adults, only 16 percent of seniors participating in the study had a PERS in their homes. With baby boomers expected to increase the elderly population to 54 million in 2020, a heightened awareness of the benefits medical alert devices offer could prolong the independence and well-being of many seniors to come.

Reasons To Choose Natural Dietary Supplements

With an increasingly busy lifestyle, more people are finding it difficult to balance proper nutrition and their daily schedules. With increasing amounts of processed food filling store shelves, finding appropriately healthy meals is also becoming a difficult challenge. For these reasons and many others, natural supplements are becoming a very popular alternative with average consumers. While they cannot entirely replace important healthy lifestyle choices like exercise, good diet and getting enough sleep, natural dietary supplements can be advantageous to overall health.

Immune System Health and General Wellness:

One of the most popular reasons for taking whole food or other natural types of supplements is to increase overall wellness physically, mentally and emotionally. Physical stress, such as lack of sleep or general poor health can wear an immune system down over time, making the risk for illness much greater. When an immune system isn’t functioning correctly or has been weakened by prolonged stress, viruses and diseases can more easily take hold and cause more damage. They are also much harder to be rid of if an immune system is flagging.

Natural health supplements, such as Vitamin D tablets, Vitamin C, Folic Acid and other essential nutrients can help maintain a healthy immune system that can more easily fend off diseases and illness, as well as help a person better cope with everyday stress.

Energy Boosts and Other Benefits:

Fatigue due to long hours at work is one of the most common problems faced by many average Americans. Americans are working longer hours now than ever before and it can take a heavy toll on mental alertness. Some supplements are well known for their ability to boost energy and help combat fatigue from overworking or poor sleep.

The B-vitamins, such as vitamin B12 and vitamin B9, are some of the most well-known supplements used to help increase mental alertness and energy. Fortunately, these vitamins can be found easily in a variety of affordable and easy to acquire sources, such as vitamin pills or fortified beverages. Ginseng is another popular natural health supplement which can be found in a variety of teas, vitamin pills and as dried, bagged slices. Many people claim it helps boost stamina and produces an overall healthy, positive effect when used for more than a few days running.

Omega 3 health benefits have long been noted by doctors, scientists and dietitians; Omega 3 fatty acids can help keep energy levels higher while helping to strengthen overall physiology. Omega 3’s are generally found in food such as fish, black raspberry and pecans. They are essential to cardiovascular health, but may also help fend off depression, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

Religion And Yoga

A religious rights leader in the US recently sparked off a debate with his comments on the inappropriateness of Yoga for those of the Christian faith. Arguments have since flown fast and thick on all sides over the linking of Yoga with specific religions.

As a proponent of Yoga as the ultimate challenge for the attainment of holistic wellness, I have been extremely pained to read all things related to the matter. For one, I havent been able to fathom the reasons as to why this should even be thrown on the table.

It is true that Yoga originated in India, the same country which produced great religious systems such as Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism. Indeed, India is one of the two regions of the world which has been the cradle of religious thought, the other being the Middle East which produced Christianity, Islam, Judaism et al.

However, Yoga at its best is a philosophical system which is thought to lead to self-realization. For as long as it has existed, there have been no religious incantations associated with the practice, nor does it propagate the worship of any one supreme figure. It is infact philosophical and not iconic in any way.

The Yogic systems prevalent today are a fragment of an entire pristine system, and are mostly only corporeal; they strive to keep the body healthy through various poses and breathing techniques. The only Hindu connotation I have found evidence of, is the sounding of the syllable Om while breathing, which is also equally construable as a shortening of Amen. Interestingly, Om and Amen have similar meanings and origins as well.

I personally know scores of people of various religious beliefs following Yoga, and who have found no conflict between their religion and the practice. Yoga, which is devoid of any religious connotations is even widely practiced by atheists who would have otherwise shunned it in the name of religious circumvention.

My personal experience tells me that one neednt even go deep into research, because a quick online search will point to the fact that Yoga is linked with environmentalism, healthy food habits, exercise, fitness and mostly good health, but definitely not with any strong religious associations. Even specifically searching for a link did not yield any results to indicate the gentlemans concerns that Yoga is a symptom of postmodern spiritual confusion.

I came across an interesting and relevant blog here which I understand to be a product of a mature and analytical mind.

I would be happy to understand just how practicing Yoga is a shameful act as the US Baptist has claimed. Looking forward to your thoughts, as usual.
